The atmosphere is heavy and the crimes committed in dark corners of the city are as sinister as they come. The dazzling lens performance by Jayaprakash who plays the protagonist's elder brother is perfect to accentuate this eerie mood. With the directorial debut of Nelson Venkatesan, Eeram is a film that is based on a peculiar story. The character he has brought on the screen is one that has never been depicted before in Tamil cinema. The storyline of Eeram revolves around three brothers who are completed by the character played by Jayaprakash. Srinivasan aka Srisri (Jayaprakash) and his younger brother Manikandan (Arun Vijay) are siblings who conduct an investigation agency for solving murders and crimes. The third brother, Vaasantharaj (Vivek) is the most senior of the three brothers and is known for his investigative skills. The four act as a single entity to solve crimes. The story begins with Srinivasan who is now called Srisri conducting an investigation of his best friend's wife's murder. The investigation uncovers the fact that she is pregnant with someone else's child. A crime punishable by death, Srisri leaves it all behind to look after his mother-in-law. Vasantharaj who is now known as Vasi, has just purchased a house in their hometown, which happens to be their father's ancestral house. Srisri is shocked to find out that the house is soon to be auctioned by their family. While Vasantharaj has moved back to his village, Srisri's wife Sangeetha (Meena) has retired. However she refuses to retire as her husband wants her to stay. She convinces the banker who holds the rights to the house that she wants Srisri to live with them so he can raise his daughter without being disturbed by Vasantharaj's investigative agency. Samples of investigations are shown in order to explain what they do and how their work differs from other agencies'. Srisri and Manikandan's investigation is in its final stages and they call Vasantharaj to their office in order to complete their findings. Vasantharaj comes to the crime scene with the police inspector (Delhi Ganesh), who is known for his amazing investigative skills. His sense of smell is what stands out in his investigations. He even knows when a person is lying by getting their smell. What he doesn't know or see in this crime scene is that he will play a major role in the investigations soon. The investigation which Srisri conducts brings about another murder, whose killer remains at large. It becomes clear that there are two different gangs involved.
